Majorca

We made our first trip to Majorca in 2001. We had such a good time then that we decided to go back again in 2002. We went to the Stephen Roche Cycling Camp based in Palma Nova, about 10 km from Palma. The camp is primarily oriented to racers, but works quite well for mixed families, where one spouse wants to ride hard and the other wants to take it easier, or do other things, like hiking, horseback riding, lounging or shopping.

For a tiny fee, leaders from the camp take 5 different groups at different speeds on guided tours. The routes are mostly the same, with faster groups sometimes getting in an extra climb or more mileage. This year, our friends Roy and Susan, joined us for the week. Roy, Susan and I rode mostly with group 3, a moderate paced group, while John rode with the fast folks in group 1.

Sunday's ride took us to Andratx. Roy, Susan and I decided it looked like a great place for lunch, but it was early yet when we rode through. We decided we'd come back with John after the ride.
